Advocacy as a Practice: A Discussion with Bill Barron

Just home from a 700-mile climate ride-The Mighty Five, Bill will give his perspective on his advocacy experience from St George to Moab and briefly share about his own transformation with CCL, his 16 years of advocacy, and his intention to: keep it fun, keep it engaging, and turn it into a life-long practice." Bill will also share a quick update on CCL's current focus.

Bill Barron is a Vermonter, father, and carpenter by trade. Bill has been a small business owner, ski patrolman, the Alta Town Marshal, and created a renewable energy/energy efficiency non-profit. Personally driven to walk his talk and to stand for what he believes in, Bill stepped completely out of his comfort zone in 2010 to lobby in DC as a volunteer with Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL)  because of his daughter, his love of nature, and a deep-seated desire to help the US become a leader on climate solutions. Bill founded the 12th CCL Chapter nationwide that year and is currently one of CCL’s Network Directors, supporting volunteers across 16 states. Over his 16 years of climate advocacy, Bill has campaigned as a single-issue federal climate candidate three times, has completed over 10 CCL bipartisan climate advocacy tours across the Mountain West, and so far has biked over 5,000 miles promoting CCL/climate solutions while raising over $45,000.
