Earth Day at the Great Salt Lake: Stewardship in Action

On April 19th, Craig Smith and Dave Ryser represented the LDS Action Team at an Earth Day Service Project hosted by LDS Earth Stewardship at the Great Salt Lake State Park.

The day began with a brief presentation from the park service naturalist, followed by a beach cleanup and meaningful conversations about climate stewardship with many of the 100+ attendees.

More than just service, the event offered a valuable opportunity for connection and collaboration. Representatives from ten different earth stewardship organizations tabled at the event, sharing ideas, resources, and a common vision for protecting our sacred landscapes.

Participating organizations included:

  • CCL LDS Action Team

  • LDS Earth Stewardship

  • Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG)

  • Jordan River Commission

  • Utah Clean Energy

  • Grow the Flow

  • The Salt Lake Planetarium

  • Interfaith Panel

  • HEAL Utah

  • The Nature Conservancy

  • Audubon Society

Moments like these remind us that caring for creation is most impactful when we work together.
