LDS-Action Team | An Evening with Phil Brueck
Phil Brueck has centered much of his life in and around our Nation’s most beloved public lands. He grew up in Zion National Park, where his father worked for the Park Service. He worked for the National Park Service after college and spent 30 years in mid to top-level management in a wide variety of our finest parks and recreation areas from Point Reyes, California, to the Gulf states, the East, and the North East. His last assignment before retiring was as Deputy Superintendent of the Southeast Utah Group, which consists of Arches and Canyonlands National Park, Natural Bridges and Hovenweep National Monuments.
How the Church Cares for the Earth
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is accelerating global efforts to care for the earth, following the divine guidance from the First Presidency to be wise stewards. “This is a topic, caring for the earth, that we have worked on for a long time. And so that’s not new, but there’s a new emphasis,” said Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé. Bishop Caussé said the Church hopes to “inspire members of the Church and all community members to use the resources of the earth with great care and prudence.” A new landing page with information on the Church’s efforts to care for the earth is also now available. This site provides an overview and additional references to the Church’s related teachings and operational initiatives, and other ideas such as how individuals and communities can be involved. What is the CCL LDS-Action Team?
As moderators of the LDS Creation Care Community, we aim to unite our mission with other organizations focused on earth stewardship and to broaden our impact through a Creation Care Community.
The LDS - Action Team is a chapter of the Citizen’s Climate Lobby, we follow the “consistently respectful, nonpartisan approach to climate education designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation to drive climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.”
